Team Members
- Doug Arion, Carthage College
- Paul Lane, Grand Valley State University
Overview
This team will identify and develop strategies and materials to assist institutions in developing staffing plans, recruiting approaches, and evaluation criteria, including:
- a set of talking points to document and justify the value of entrepreneurship at PUIs, especially liberal arts institutions
- mechanisms to involve faculty from across the campus in entrepreneurship education both within their own disciplines and across disciplines
- best practices and policies for recruiting and developing professional staff with descriptions of their use at other institutions
- evaluation criteria and sample portfolio materials for faculty involved in entrepreneurship
Before the working meeting, we will review literature, interview faculty and administrators about their experiences with entrepreneurial activities in staff recruitment, scheduling, evaluation, and tenure and promotion decisions, and identify institutions that can serve as good models. We will use this data to draft a set of talking points and best practices. These will be reviewed at the working meeting, refined after the meeting, and posted online.
